Just one bite of these noodles will tansport you to Pattaya, a beachside resort in Thailand known for its lively nightlife and amazing street food. It is here you will find row after row of Pad Thai stands each with their own twist on the dish. As the name implies, these noodles were born and bred in Thailand. Although many think the tasty noodles date back centuries, the truth is the dish is only about 70 years old. In fact it was created by the Thai government as a post war stimulus package. The noodles helped to create new jobs in the rice and restaurant industries, encourage spending and generate pride and nationalism. (Maybe the US needs a special food stimulus dish too!!)
Serves 6 - 8 adults
The Kit includes: Fish sauce, tamarind sauce, pickled turnips, dried shrimp, dried rice noodles, chili powder, unsalted peanuts, palm sugar, tamarind candies, shopping list for fresh items, step-by-step preparation instructions, wok tips & techniques, a wok cheat sheet, authentic table setting suggestions, and Tea & Trivia to enjoy after your meal.
Fresh ingredients you will need: Baked tofu, chicken, eggs, shrimp, green onions,lime juice, garlic and bean sprouts.
This dish is not hard to make IF you lay out the items before starting to cook. Aside from the shrimp which can be omitted, there are no other non-Kosher ingredients. You can adjust the level of spice for each dinner participant.
