Loading... Please wait...Welcome to a well kept secret of Korea, the Island of Jeju! This beautiful island is often compared to Hawaii for its natural beauty and popularity with newlyweds. Your journey there begins over 400 years ago with the history of the Japchae sweet potato noodle stir fry. Dreamt up by a simple liege for a cooking contest, the dish not only won first prize, it impressed the king so thoroughly that he was immediately promoted to the equivalent of Secretary of Treasury as a reward for his culinary genius.
This easy to make kit has everything you need to create your destination dinner in Jeju, Korea. It will walk you through creating the savory soy and sesame noodles using the pre-measured amounts of hard to find ingredients; introduce you to authentic Korean table settings; and teach you about the history of the destination and the dish itself. There is even a take and go shopping list for the required fresh ingredients. To make sure your meal is as amazing as the original we have even tossed in a mini chopping lesson and, of course, a bag for marinating.
As with every Kit you also receive our fun and informative trivia to enjoy with your dinner guest. A great way to inspire discussion and learning both with adults and children.
This is a savory dish, not spicy at all. Perfect for families with young children (who will love helping make the kit).
Serves 6 -8 adults (at least!)
To make this dish for just a few, start with the marinade. As long as you are using fresh meat you can freeze a portion of the meat in the ziploc bag to use later. When making the noodles, simply make half, using only half of the spices and sauces required. Of course you can always make the complete batch and just have leftovers. They taste great cold and hot. This will keep for one week refrigerated once made.
Pre measured ingredients included in the kit: Sweet potato noodles, soy sauce, dark sesame oil, black pepper, dried shitake and wood ear mushrooms, salt, sugar.
Fresh ingredients you will need: carrots, green onions, yellow onion, beef, garlic, and green bell pepper (and any other seasonal vegetables you want to add).
Here is a link to some traditional Koran music to enjoy during dinner. It is only available to people who are signed in. Sign In Now!

I received Destination Dinners as a graduation gift. It made cooking interesting exotic dishes fun and easy. My favorite cuisine is Korean, so it was especially fun to make the Japchae Noodles. They came out delicious and tasted authentic. What's more is the customer service is personal, friendly, and fast.
