The traditional way to set an elegant table when using chopsticks is to use chopstick rests. Not only are they beautiful, they keep the tips of the sticks from touching the table onces used for eating.
In Japan the chopstick rests, call Hashi-Oki (literally meaning a place to put chopsticks), help to reflect the season and the ambiance of the food. These rests are a double persimmon, a wonderful fruit incorporated into many foods in Japan. The chopstcks included in this set are textured and non-slip to make eating slippery noodles like soba and udon easy.
